JESSICA MAUBOY is poised to break the Australian Idol curse at the ARIA Awards. "I feel like saying 'take that'," Mauboy said of critics of television's talent quest. Mauboy is the first graduate of Australian Idol to break so dramatically into the key peer-voted categories at the ARIAs.  

Calle 13 swept the 10th Annual Latin Grammy Awards on Nov. 5, picking up five trophies. The rap duo's third studio album, 'Los de Atrás Vienen Conmigo,' won for Album of the Year and Best Urban Album, while their collaboration on 'No Hay Nadie Como Tú ' with Mexican rock group Cafe Tacuba won Best Alternative Song and Record of the Year. There will be a new singing competition which presents everything raw. NBC is mulling a new TV show called "The Sing-Off" where contestants have to rely on their voice to get through the next round. MILWAUKEE, WI -- Danny Gokey isn't going to let a few put-downs keep him from dancing. The 29-year-old former church music director and "American Idol" finalist says he'd like to try "Dancing With The Stars," in part because the "Idol" judges regularly criticized his moves. Gokey was back in Milwaukee for a free event Tuesday night.  

When I first saw David Cook on the seventh season of American Idol — a show he'd wind up winning over Muppet Boy David Archuleta — I thought he looked like a weary door-to-door salesman pushing Hoovers in Boise. I also thought Cook had supremely bad hair, like a reverse mullet or, for that matter, a "skullet." Let me tell you: I've never been more wrong about a contestant.

Kelly Clarkson performed Friday at Pengrowth Saddledome. Attendance 7,000. It was a big night out for girls, teens and the moms and dads who accompanied them Friday evening when the original American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson played to a relatively small but enthusiastic crowd of about 7,000 fans at Saddledome.  

FORMER Australia's Next Top Model contestant Jordan Loukas is on track to become the next new presenter on Channel V, after making the top three of a national talent search. Loukas, 20, will compete against two relatively unknown young men for the role - Victorian teaching assistant Billy Russell, 23, and NSW radio announcer Ryan Stuart, 25. The music TV channel launched a nationwide talent search for a presenter to join Danny Clayton, Renee Bargh, Jane Gazzo and Kyle Linehan in July and was inundated with more than 3000 applications.
